A precise knowledge of the Earth's surface and infrastructure status and condition are the basis for sound decision making in various fields.
For more than 25 years, decision makers in government, business and research worldwide have been relying on Astrium Services for airborne remote sensing imagery, data and related services – a cost- and time-efficient, highly precise alternative to on-site surveys.
Our airborne survey service reaches far beyond pure acquisition and processing. Mapping, elevation modelling and the creation of 3D city models are only a few examples of value-adding Astrium can offer.
In-house specialists in fields such as geology and exploration, environment and land management, insurance, defence and security, risk and crisis planning are available to process and evaluate data to extract precisely the information relevant for a customer's specific purpose. Hosting and distribution services complete the offer.
A broad range of products and services can be derived from airborne data:
Rapid and secure delivery in a range of resolutions and accuracies as well as all standard formats is a matter of course to Astrium Services, its production and delivery processes being ISO9001:2000 certified.
A precise knowledge of the Earth's surface and infrastructure status and condition are the basis for sound decision making in various fields such as:
Oil, Gas and Mining: infrastructure, facilities and pipeline planning, volumetrics, environmental assessments monitoring and change detection, slope analysis, seismic planning, geo-hazards
Engineering: highway and railway planning, construction and maintenance, vegetation encroachment, wind farm siting, 3D visualisation, flood modelling, noise mapping
Utilities: risk assessments, asset mapping, network planning and maintenance
Public Authorities: urban planning, security, environmental analysis, coastal monitoring, habitat analysis, land cover classification, emergency response planning
Forestry and Agriculture: land parcel identification, crop analysis
The selection of the most suitable sensor and definition of appropriate projects has been proven in a range of assignments in some of the most demanding environments around the world, where Astrium Services successfully conducts airborne survey projects.
In Mauritius for example, the Government has set up a project (LAVIMS) designed to modernise land administration by improving access to information. Implementation is under the responsibility of a consortium of international and local companies led by Astrium Services. Part of the LAVIMS data delivery is a detailed and accurate coverage of new aerial imagery for the whole island, against which the land parcels are located.
In Guinea, Astrium provided lidar-generated elevation models, aerial photography, ground survey and derived mapping to support mining development and infrastructure planning projects.
In Nigeria, Astrium Services has provided colour orthorectified aerial imagery at a number of resolutions to support the establishment of a geospatial land information system for Osun State
Airborne Surveys
Astrium Services operates a fleet of aircraft and owns a range of interoperable airborne sensors. Continuous investments secure that customers can always rely on the latest airborne survey technology, mounted in both fixed wing and rotary aircraft. In addition, they appreciate the professional project management and efficient acquisition and processing schemes Astrium Services provides.
