What is SPOT DEM Precision?

SPOT DEM Precision is the only DTED level 2 product of its kind on the market. It contains two layers of information:

an HRS DEM
quality and traceability metadata

Sampling

SPOT DEM Precision is a gridded file with step sizes of 1 second of arc (30 m on the equator, E/W dimensions vary according to the latitude).
Resampling to 20 m available.

SPOT DEM Precision offers unmatched performance and coverage of more than 54 million km² (85 million km² by 2014).

3D flyover on SPOT DEM Precision

Derived directly from the Reference3D database produced for French defence users, SPOT DEM Precision is designed to very strict specifications, assuring zones of uniform geometric quality and guaranteeing the DTED2 specifications.

Designed to meet military requirements, SPOT DEM Precision gives quality and traceability indicators for each pixel:

absolute horizontal and vertical accuracy,
source data,
production processes,
all corrections and checks.

SPOT DEM Precision is the only DEM to provide detailed information on the identification and location of the kind of residual errors (gaps, artefacts, etc.) found in all DEMS generated by automatic correlation.

Full control of terrain data

This rigour makes SPOT DEM Precision an excellent tool for building onboard databases for UAVs, missiles and aircraft, and for mission planning, well suited to defence ministries and armament manufacturers.
