SPOT 6 successfully completed a series of mechanical tests in December to confirm its ability to withstand the critical launch phase.
From 15 to 20 December, deployment tests on each of the three solar panels were also successful. This operation will be performed in space just after the satellite separates from its launcher.
To provide stiffening and to dampen vibrations affecting image quality, the three panels are mounted directly on the bus structure.
Environmental testing of SPOT 6 will continue in February with electronic and thermal tests.
