Pléiades reveals the dimensions of the island emerged off the Pakistan coast

Astrium Services experts, have measured the Island of Zalzala Koh, which has appeared off Gwadar, Pakistan, on a Pléiades satellite image.

The island of Zalzala Koh rose out of the sea  off Gwadar,Pakistan after the earthquake of September 23 and was measured by experts from the GEO-Information Division of Astrium Services on a Pléiades image acquired on September 26, 2013.  Reactive programming of the Pleiades constellation and  instant production of the  very-high-resolution image allowed experts to provide measurements in less than 24 hours after the acquisition.

The measurements are:

  • Area: 22 726 m²
  • Length: 175,7 m
  • Width: 160,9 m
