Agricultural Policy and Law Enforcement

Proven solutions for an integrated management of agricultural land

Agriculture ministries, regional government decision-makers and private organizations need to monitor:

  • agricultural production
  • agricultural land use and land use change and its impact on ecosystems
  • practices and impact of regulation policies on the control of subsidies and the modernization of agriculture for example
  • arming pressure on natural resources, especially water and soil
  • the evaluation of agricultural policies such as the implementation of agro-environment indicators and land parcel information systems.

Astrium Services provides bespoke solutions on crop land management for local, regional and national support to agriculture policy and economic development taking into account the management, planning and organization needs of customers.

In support to agro-environment policies, Astrium Services supplies public and private sectors with geo-information baseline and monitoring, project management and capacity development on:

Agricultural Policy - MERIS-based estimates of the irrigated crop

MERIS-based estimates of the irrigated crop

  • the spatial analysis of agricultural land by types of crops, by territories from local to regional scale
  • the monitoring of agricultural practices and their evolution
  • the accurate knowledge about cropland for a better anticipation on crop production
    - identification of under-performing areas for specific actions
    - improvement of logistics
  • the monitoring analysis of crop areas at risk
    - early detection of stress
    - damage assessment
  • crop yield forecasting
  • biomass analysis
  • agricultural surveys and statistics

Satellite imagery

The provision of satellite data is at the base of generating agricultural geo-information such as biophysical maps thanks to Overland software suite.

Satellite imagery collection from all of the major commercial satellite systems, all type of sensors radar and optical, from HR to VHR resolution such as SPOT, Pléiades, FORMOSAT-2 or DEIMOS-1 data for example.

Our experience in agriculture means that we can recommend the most suitable and cost-effective satellite data to suit your specific application. Our remote sensing experts can provide application specific image processing such as land feature extraction, vegetation patterns classification and analysis to provide consistent and integrated set of agricultural maps covering various temporal, spatial and thematic scales in GIS ready format.

SPOTMaps

The seamless, uniform and orthorectified regional coverages are used by agriculture geo-information companies as a base map layers for agricultural studies.

Did you know?

Agricultural statistics provide a yearly picture of farming practices and production.
They help to gauge the impacts of climatic and economic changes, guide strategic choices and target subsidies. Their role is to improve decision-making.

Agricultural statistics must provide decision-makers with detailed national and regional figures. They also have a fourfold purpose:

  • indicate utilized agricultural areas (UAAs) and non-agricultural land
  • estimate national distribution of cropped area
  • forecast potential yield for each type of crop
  • highlight changes from one year to the next and identify trends.
